The Ministry of Housing and Works, Government of Pakistan, has officially issued the Allotment of Temporary Accommodation in the Federal Lodges and Hostel Rules, 2025. This new framework is designed to regulate the allocation of accommodation, ensuring streamlined administration and strengthened accountability within federal lodges and hostels across the country.

According to the notification, all lodges and hostels listed in the schedule will fall under the management of their respective administrative divisions. The standard allotment period has been set at three years. However, occupants may apply for extensions, which can be granted annually for up to two additional years based on justified reasons. These rules apply uniformly to both bachelor and single-room accommodations.

One of the core principles highlighted in the rules is that allotments will be made strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, allottees will be liable for any damage or loss incurred during their stay and will be responsible for covering related costs.

The new rules also provide comprehensive guidelines regarding:

  • Catering and supply arrangements
  • Maintenance of decorum within the premises
  • Timely payment of dues by allottees
  • Maintenance of a complaints register for grievance redressal

Furthermore, the procedure for the cancellation of allotments and eviction of occupants has been clearly defined to ensure transparency and fairness in implementation.

This initiative aims to foster a more efficient and accountable accommodation system for federal employees and eligible residents.
