In a powerful statement marking World Press Freedom Day 2025, Senator Sehar Kamran emphasized the vital role of media in promoting national development and safeguarding truth. Speaking at a commemorative event held at the Islamabad Press Club, she praised the Pakistani media for its courage and commitment to exposing misinformation and countering Indian propaganda.
Senator Kamran highlighted the media’s role as the "backbone of a thriving society," stressing its significance in driving progress and defending against the spread of fake news.
“I deeply appreciate the Pakistani media’s vital role in advancing our national narrative and exposing Indian propaganda,” she said.
The event was jointly organized by the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights (PCHR), Media Matters for Democracy (MMFD), and the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ). A key highlight was the launch of the Journalist Alert App, a digital initiative aimed at protecting journalists and enhancing press freedom in Pakistan.
Senator Kamran expressed pride in joining the initiative, reinforcing the collective commitment to a "free and responsible press."
