Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a crucial telephone conversation today with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, discussing rising tensions in South Asia and reaffirming bilateral ties.

The Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s deep concern over the current regional instability, attributing it to India’s provocative conduct following the Pahalgam incident. He firmly rejected any allegations attempting to link Pakistan to the incident without credible evidence and called for an international, transparent, and neutral investigation, welcoming Malaysia’s participation in such an inquiry.

Shehbaz Sharif stressed that Pakistan has consistently condemned terrorism in all its forms, and reminded of the country’s frontline role and immense sacrifices in the global war against terrorism. He further stated that India’s aggressive posture was hindering Pakistan’s counterterrorism operations along its western border.

Highlighting Pakistan’s internal progress, the Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan had just recovered from a severe economic crisis and was now on the path to stability, making it unthinkable for the country to engage in any such controversy.

In addition to regional issues, both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing Pakistan-Malaysia relations, especially in trade, investment, and cultural exchange. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his anticipation of paying an official visit to Malaysia later this year.

The conversation reflected the strong diplomatic bond and mutual understanding between Pakistan and Malaysia, with both leaders agreeing to maintain close coordination on international and regional developments.
