National Youth Policy Vision Unfolds at COMSATS Abbottabad
Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, conducted an impactful consultative session at COMSATS University, Abbottabad, on the formulation of the National Adolescent and Youth Policy (NAYP). The session drew participation from students, faculty members, religious scholars, and development sector representatives, focusing on creating a holistic and forward-looking policy to empower youth across Pakistan.
During his speech, Rana Mashhood addressed the ongoing regional tensions, specifically the water dispute between Pakistan and India. He criticized India for its failed attempts to destabilize Pakistan via water-based tactics and condemned the baseless allegations including the recent Pahalgam incident. He assured the audience that Pakistan will respond in a way that reflects the nation's unity and resilience.
Strong Message to India Amidst Regional Pressures
Chairman PMYP highlighted India’s flawed comparisons of Pakistan to war-torn nations like Iraq, Egypt, Libya, or Palestine. He affirmed that Pakistan’s government, armed forces, and intelligence agencies are united and vigilant. He referred to a recent high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif where it was decided that any Indian attempt to construct dams or block water would be met with a firm and direct response.
Youth at the Center of National Resilience
Rana Mashhood emphasized that Pakistan is engaged in a dual-front struggle — one on external borders, and the other within, to equip its youth with the resources and confidence to shape their future. Through the PMYP, the government is delivering essential tools, platforms, and opportunities for youth development.
He reiterated the government’s commitment through PMYP’s four core pillars, known as the ‘4Es’: Education, Employment, Engagement, and Environment. These pillars aim to ensure that every young individual in Pakistan is provided with equal and inclusive opportunities.
Launch of National Adolescent and Youth Policy (NAYP)
A significant highlight of the event was the formal announcement of the NAYP, being developed with UNICEF’s support. This policy is based on the principle of “For Youth, By Youth” and focuses on the educational, mental health, social, and economic needs of individuals aged 10 to 29. It aims to build strong partnerships with international organizations, the private sector, youth networks, and multilateral agencies to deliver globally competitive opportunities.
Rana Mashhood urged youth to actively participate in shaping the policy by completing the Youth Survey available through the Digital Youth Hub (DYH).
Introduction of the Digital Youth Hub (DYH)
Another key feature of the session was the introduction of Digital Youth Hub (DYH) — a flagship, AI-driven “one-stop shop” platform under PMYP. It provides customized opportunities for youth in education, employment, entrepreneurship, civic engagement, and environmental projects. DYH is accessible through iOS and Android apps, and the official website: www.pmyp.gov.com.
Chairman PMYP encouraged all youth to register and contribute their insights to improve the policy further. “The government has opened the doors of opportunity,” he said, “now it is the youth’s responsibility to step forward and lead Pakistan towards a bright, peaceful, and inclusive future.”
