ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that India has so far failed to provide any evidence implicating Pakistan in the recent Pahalgam incident, indicating instead that India might be using the event to further its own agenda.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with CNN, the minister stressed that Pakistan has extended a clear offer for a fair and transparent investigation, yet India has continued to level accusations without substance. “India blamed Pakistan immediately after the Pahalgam incident without any proof,” he said. “But we remain open to a fair and just investigation.”
Tarar emphasized that this is not the first instance of such behavior from New Delhi. “They have exploited incidents like these before to justify aggressive actions against Pakistan,” he stated, pointing out that India has not identified any group responsible for the attack.
“Our Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during his address at the Military Academy’s passing out parade, reiterated Pakistan’s clean stance and our commitment to impartial investigations,” Tarar noted. “This underscores our position: we have nothing to hide.”
Discussing the broader security concerns, the minister revealed that Pakistan possesses credible intelligence regarding India’s aggressive intentions. “We had very reliable intelligence at the operational level. While specific details cannot be shared, our timely communication with the international community served as a deterrent.”
Tarar outlined Pakistan’s doctrine of deterrence, highlighting three key pillars: strong military capability, national resolve, and effective communication. “Communication plays a crucial role not only in crisis aversion but also in keeping both our citizens and global partners informed,” he said.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace, he added, “We are not the aggressors nor the provocateurs. Pakistan has always sought peaceful coexistence but reserves the right to self-defense.”
He concluded by stating that Pakistan’s armed forces are vigilant and fully prepared. “Given the intelligence we’ve received and the strategic movements observed in India, the possibility of an attack exists. However, our forces are ready, and Pakistan will defend itself resolutely.”
